Anyway....
*fangirl squeel* THAT WAS FUN!
I was MARIO! I am sure you will be able to find photos of that on any of these awesome girls DA's:
[make sure you have a nice glass of your favorite drink and get comfortable for a bit of a read. or alternatively you could just skip to the end if you don't want to hear the puppys outlook on the awesomeness of Supanova. Who knows, might be something worth reading down there.
Day 1:
So I got up early on firday, to go find a shirt for my Mario costume, since the night before I realised 'CRAP MARIO HAS LONG SLEEVES!' and all I had was my trademark red T-shirt that everyone who knows me IRL knows well. You wouldnt beleive how f-ing hard it is to find a red, longsleeve shirt, with NO BUTTONS, in any decent shade of red - LET ALONE XXL IN SIZE! ugh, that was a nightmare, but it seems Andrew [
So, Triumphant of our lucky find [a long sleeve shirt, nice and wooly for the winter cold, just 2 shades darker then Mario should have but no one noticed that. XD] we headed over to city center to grab something to eat and drink. 5 30 came and we were waiting at the station cause Kyle [
Andrew and I decided screw that, we'll get on the next one to save us from being horribly late. On the train I realised "OH CRAP! I left my ticket at home. >.<;;;;;" DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM....... my soul left my body for a good 5 minutes....
So we get there, and Kenny [
Luckily the old lady at the counter was really nice and said I could give her 20 there, and would give it back the next day if I could show her the real ticket I left at home. Once again a lucky break.
And so, we headed in, met with Kyle, Stan [
Then came the time to leave, and as we got the the station, we learned that everyone except me, had to go back to midland.... and there were no midland trains running. We sat out in the cold while we waited for the rail replacement bus to come along, and it dawned on us after a long while 'what if we are stuck out here all night and have to sleep in the dirt?!'.... after a long silence, Craig voiced up and said "This is why I don't hang out with you guys...."
Cartman, being the only one going home on a different train line then said "Screw you guys, I'm going home." and tried to leave, but then the bus finally arrived. And so the group parted ways for the night.
Day 2:
FEET STILL HURT! was the first thing I thought when I woke up the next day. By golly, 4 hours sleep doesn't cut it, not for a whole day of walking around ahead of me.... But who cares, the awesomeness would more then numb the pain. So I got up, and got ready. I was merrily strutting down the road to the station humming 'dot dot dot, dot doo doo doo, dotdotdotdoo doo doo doo....', when a car pulled over and said "Dude, can I take a photo with you?" "Sure." So he got his girlfriend to take the photo. "Thanks man, that made my day. Mario rocks!" He didn't even know what Supanova was when I asked him if he was going. Oh well. XD
The train was silent, but an old man stared at me all the way to the city center. He scared the crap out of me. But hey, I was brimming with excitement from that random guy in his car. All the way from the city center to the convention, everyone said the same thing. "It's Mario!".... no one seems to have any originality. It was literally the same thing, said in the same surprised tone, with the same expression of amusement and approval on their features. The line was insanely long, at least 10 times the size of the line on the friday [probably since only a small number of people, bought a 3 day pass.] And almost every single person on the mile-long line said the same damn thing. "IT'S MARIO!" one second later "IT'S MARIO!" one more step "OMG IT'S MARIO!" one breath "IT'S MARIO!" XD I swear I was as red as a cherry by the time I got to the end of the line. I've never been so well received.
In the convention..... wow, so much crap to look at, so little time. gosh where to first? the Gametraders stand or Empire Toys? what the hell is Pinin Accessories - are they even based in Perth? Wow, that's all you can say. In the end all I bought was a 4-star crystal dragonball [$20], 2 Pokemon figures - a Flareon and Jolteon [$7 each], and Cherudim Gundam from Gundam-00 S2 [$35].
After looking around and then getting some lunch, finally came time for the cosplay comp. The group lined up
I was nervous as hell but didn't let it show. We rocked on up, then the crowd demanded we kill John [the MC] as everyone does, so he went along, getting brutally slaughtered by each of us. Samus shot him, Ike didn't have his sword so he punched him, Sheik got half way through kicking him before deciding it was too much effort, pikachu electrocuted him, and link shot an arrow at him. Me being at the end, gave the audience an epic grand finale of a charged up FALCON PAUWNCH! which [somehow] catapulted him across the stage and to the ground, where everyone else's seemed ineffective. The crowd was clearly amused as mass clapping ensued. n.n
So, more photos, more hugs, and then we went home. Who ever the person who played as PaRappa The Rapper was, YOU OWN! XD Shout out to you whoever you are cause you are just too cool. =3 I think the daily tally was at about 30 glomps, 100 hugs [including the glomps], and close to 200 photos - INCLUDING ones from OUTSIDE the actual convention, from just random people on the street [which probably counts to at least a third of each catagory]. @_@ XD It was insane, but fun as all hell. But FREAKING HELL MY FEET HURT!
Day 3:
MY FEET STILL FREAKING HURT! AGAIN! that was my first thought once again, as I woke up at close to mid-day. CRAP! Didn't want to sleep that long! Ah hell, Nadirah and Andrew both decided to ditch me to get to the convention early during our planning the day before ANYWAY so oh well, doesn't matter that I'm late. Screw them. XD So I pick up the overalls, stare at them sleepily for a good 10 minutes, before putting them down again. Too much effort getting in them again. <.<; So I head off in my normal hoody and regular casuals. No more hugs.
OMG MR POPO! "PECKING ORDER.... Ahahahaha.... AHAHAHAHAHA.... AHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAA!" someone was there AS MR POPO! that was just the most epic thing of the entire convention. Holy hell, a Popo..... That was just too cool. So we did the walk around again and headed into the cosplay comp. Apparently Christopher Sabat, the voice actor of Vegeta, was telling people to go watch the Dragonball Z Abridged series on youtube, so that was like YESSSSSSS! *fist pump* Chris and Spike Spencer [Shinji Ikari, Evangalion] were just legends in and of themselves in person just as much as in character. Divinities among men.
As the cosplay comp came to a close, John - who usually sung the cosplay song using his ukelele as the only instrument - did instead the COSPLAY RAP! haha that was awesome, and all thanks to PaRappa the Rapper the day before, as John admitted. He felt he needed to do something different after 2 years of the cosplay song, so he wrote his own damn rap. It should be on youtube by now so I will have to hit in links in my next journal. [this one is too freaking long itself. And this is the ABRIDGED version!]
In the end, Nadirah, Andrew and I went back to the city center, walked over to northbridge and had dinner. And we just couldn't go a day without some fag being a looser, could we? A bunch of Aboriginal faggots came and started dissing us. So we - being the witty intelectuals we are - owned them back in cranial combat - something 98% of the common aboriginal populace is lacking any skill in. I personally went on and raped the fact they all smoked, and the only thing they could come back with is ".......Don't.... call us retards! We're not....." Epic fail.
Conclusion:
Ah, so here I am, sitting at home with my feet up - giving them a well deserved rest - and about to head in for the night [or morning, as it were]. This has to have been the best convention I have been to yet. And I thought strutting around as Luxord was awesome.... I only got one glomp/hug as him [probably because he looks so bad-ass it scares the girls away] - but as Mario, hell.... I lost count after 50. XD It was a strange thing to endure - especially since my only IRL girlfriend hardly ever hugged me
I was also happy to have met Muskie - a furry friend I have known who lives in Perth for a couple of years - for the first time ever at the con, and met his friend Mechafox, who is also a very cool guy. =3
This is Al, your Italian pipe-slidin', mushroom-eatin', turtle-stompin', Cosplayin', ranting puppy, and that's all I have to say about that.
Cosplay, cosplay, everybody dance. Cosplay, cosplay, It took 3 months to make these pants. Cosplay, cosplay, I just glued my hand to my head. Cosplay, cosplay, someones touching me, that's weird. Cosplay is awesome, cosplay is grand. Its better then staying on my lonesome, and playing with my hand. Cosplay, cosplay, hip-hip-hurray. Cosplay, cosplay, I'm totally not gay - unless you want me!
